14K Gold Vintage Modernist Inlaid Onyx Ring

An unusually shaped version of a signet ring, with black onyx masterfully inlaid, creating the illusion of a cast shadow. The top of the ring is a squashed hexagon, and the black onyx creates a depth on the ring’s surface that is visually compelling and draws you in, like a de Chirico painting of a late afternoon shadow. The inlay is masterfully done: tight and seamless, with a thin gold line that adds sophistication to the design. 

Circa 1960’s, the ring has a clean, minimalist look. It is marked as 14K, with a maker’s mark “W”. The ring seems to be one of a kind.
