18K Gold & Platinum Mother of Pearl Madonna Medallion

This is a beautiful 18k yellow gold and platinum medallion featuring the Madonna hand carved into a mother of pearl centerpiece. The Madonna carving is iridescent, shifting appearance as the light changes with lovely ivory tones. The centerpiece is bezel set in platinum with additional prongs holding it in place. There are 34 tiny pearls threaded through wire that surround the centerpiece, meeting at a tiny rose cut diamond just below the bail. 

The piece is likely made in France and dates to the 1920s. The pendant measures 3/4” diameter and weighs 2.2 grams. The bail measures 3.2 mm by 4.3 mm fitting an array of chain sizes.
