An elegant and intricate sterling silver bowl made with the hand-hammering technique known as repoussé. The bowl displays the various animals of the Burmese zodiac; these creatures are rendered in astonishing detail and are flanked by beautiful hand etched patterns.
The bowl has beautiful hand chasing on the top and bottom borders. It's a unique piece, every inch completely etched to the smallest detailed pattern. Each zodiac character around the outside of the bowl was done by hand, offering insight into Burmese culture.
It measures approximately 4" x 4" x 3 1/4" and it weighs 4.82 troy oz. There is a hand-etched signature of the Burmese artist on the bottom. Circa 1890 - 1910.
