Rare Custom Pattern Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Paper Knife, circa 1890

This is a gorgeous sterling silver paper knife, made by Tiffany & Co. in Pattern No. 729. The handle is decorated with a beautiful flora and fauna motif with a pearl-lined acanthus leaf stretching towards the blade. One side of the handle once had acid-etched initials on the cartouche, but a little over-polishing on the center makes them hard to read. The other side has more floral decoration.

This beautiful paper knife measures 11" x 1 1/4". It weighs a hefty 122 grams, or 3.92 Troy ounces. It is marked "TIFFANY & Co.," "STERLING," and "729." Circa 1890.
