The Story

This is a rare pair of Unger Brothers sterling silver Indian chief cufflinks. These 3/4" Indian chiefs have all the detail of the larger Unger Indian Chief Line. The detail and crispness is still intact and they seem to have a personality in their stern look. The back of one of the cufflinks has the Unger Brother's makers mark that is worn. They have a wonderful patina and are 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/2" and weigh 6 grams. Unger Brothers silver was a firm located in Newark, New Jersey. The company was noted for their art nouveau jewelry with repoussé --that is to say, hammered from the back side - and for cast relief images. They were manufacturing silver from 1872-1914.
