Acorn Pendant Carved of Jet with 14K Gold Bail

In the spirit of the Victorian era, this acorn pendant has been carved out of jet, a black mineraloid formed from fossilized wood. This is a contemporary piece, but it holds the same symbolism that acorns did in Victorian jewelry—potential, growth, and the sentiment that “mighty oaks grow from small acorns.” This pendant is delicately carved, detailed, and very pretty. It has a 14k gold bail and is ready to hang on the chain of your choice. 

Jet is smooth, lightweight and capable of a high polish, making it ideal for jewelry. It is formed from millions of years of extreme pressure on decomposing fossilized driftwood, usually jurassic-era conifer trees. It was a popular material during the Victorian era, especially for jewelry like cameos and rosaries. 

The pendant measures 3/4” x 3/8”, plus an additional 5.8 mm round bail. The pendant weighs 1.3 grams. Unmarked; acid tests as 14k.
