Art Nouveau 800 Silver Jewelry Box

This 800 silver jewelry box is made in Germany during the Art Nouveau era. It is a simple and elegant box, with floral patterns on the lid and a minimal design on the sides. The lid features various bouquets of plants and flowers, whimsical lines and a highly lyrical monogram at the center with almost indistinguishable letters. It has some nice relief, organic forms with seductive lines, and is well crafted. The interior of the box has a lush deep purple blue velvet fabric covering that is newer and is in great condition. There is room inside for safely keeping several rings, necklaces and other small jewelry items. The box is a lovely example of Art Nouveau designs, at a time when nature inspired beautiful decorative objects, and form was as important as function.

Box measures 7-7/8 x 2-1/4 x 3-3/4 inches. It is marked with a maker's mark, 800 silver and a country mark on the base.
