The Story

This is a gorgeous and highly collectable desk box, made in the Zodiac pattern by Tiffany Studios between 1900 and 1910. It is made of heavy bronze with a gold acid-etched small flake patina, or "gold dore" patina. The Zodiac pattern on this piece features an embossed scrolling pattern and depicts two zodiac signs in oval frames on the lid. On the left is the water-bearer, representing Aquarius. On the right is the goat, representing Capricorn. This beautiful box would look stunning on any desk.

It measures 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" x 1" and weighs 580 grams. The box is in very good condition, with some minor oxidization in the bronze on the top of the lid. The interior gold dore, however, is in perfect condition and the hinge works perfectly. The bottom of the box is marked "TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 810."
