Victorian 10K Gold Onyx Intaglio Fob of Nike

This 10k gold fob holds an onyx intaglio in a beautiful, structured Architectural Revival frame. The oval black onyx intaglio is carved with the image of a chariot driven by Nike, who holds a victory wreath extended before her. Nike is the Greek goddess of victory in both war and athletics. She is depicted with wings, a symbol of speed, and a laurel wreath to crown the victors. She is also a great symbol of female empowerment. 

The black onyx tablet measures 7/8” x 5/8”. The fob measures 1” x 1”. It weighs 6.6 grams. Unmarked, but acid tests as 10k gold. The 5 x 7 mm bail is 14k gold.
