Victorian 12K Gold Collet Set Amethyst Drop Earrings

These 12k gold Victorian earrings feature beautifully saturated amethysts with pear shaped drops dangling from round gems. The stones are set in rose gold, which makes a gorgeous contrast with the saturated purple. The stones are collet set—an older way of setting stones that is quite beautiful and delicate. They attach to a shepherd’s hook wire as their backs. The earrings have lovely movement to them and a graceful length. 

The earrings are unmarked but acid test as 12k gold. In total, the earrings contain 5.2 carats of natural antique amethysts. The pear shaped stones measure 11.5 x 7.25 mm (2 carats each) and the round stones measure 5.7 mm (.6 carat each). The earrings measure 1 1/8” in length. Combined, they weigh 3.15 grams.
