Victorian 14K Gold Watch Chain Necklace with T-Bar

This 14k gold watch chain has a fabulous semi hollow link interwoven with tiny balls for an unusual variation of a curb link. The links are carved with a ribbed texture that give a matte surface to the gold. This creates a unique visual texture that almost gives the illusion that the lines of the chain are blurry or out of focus. The tiny balls add a vertebrae-like element that reinforces the chain and make its movement serpentine. 

At each end of the chain is a section of belcher link that connects with a mechanical dog clip. A smaller section of belcher link ends with a T-bar. Both the belcher links and T-bar have the same ribbed texture as the curb links in the main section of the chain. A charm can be clipped onto the chain, or the T-bar can be worn at the front of the necklace. The mechanical dog clip unscrews to open and clip the chain together. 

The necklace has a length of 15 3/8”. The curb link section of the chain measures 9 1/2” long. The two sections of belcher link measure 2 3/4” and 3 3/4”. The T-bar measures 2” and dangles off of a 1 1/2” section of chain. The chain weighs 38.97 grams. 

The chain is unmarked but acid tests as 14k gold. Circa 1880’s.
