Victorian Sterling Silver Whistle on Bracelet Chain

This is a great sterling silver Victorian whistle on an oval link chain. The 1 1/4" whistle is hand engraved with a scrolling foliate.  It was made in 1889 by H W Ashford & Co in Birmingham England.  They were known among other things for their whistles.  This one has a nice high pitch.  It hangs off an elongated link that is attached to an 8" handmade oval chain with a hook clasp. The oval link is a sturdy 3mm gauge and each link is 3/4".  

The entire piece weighs 35.6 grams and it is a fun and useful piece.  Great as a dog whistle or for alarm.
