The Story

This is French papier mache snuff box features and image of a woman and gentleman exchanging love letters.  “Le Billet Doux” (French for The Love Letter) is written across the bottom. The image looks like an etching from a book or an illustration from a romance novel. The dark ochre colored box is round in shape, and the lid fits tightly. 

The piece is in very good condition, with only very minor chips to the paint and no cracks or breaks. It measures 3 1/2” in diameter and 7/8” tall.
